Sasquatch Festival Day 3

So I was invited to the third day of the Sasquatch Festival. Couldn't say no after being offered gas coverage and FULL backstage access. I drove 255 miles each way just for a 45 minute set from Flight of the Conchords, worth it. Built to Spill was pretty good as well.

The Mars Volta has SO much energy. Almost too much. They seem like they'd be best to listen to while on acid, otherwise it's a bit overwhelming. Restless Leg Sydrome anyone!?

The Flaming Lips fucking suck! I can't believe all that trash they sent spewing into the air only to let it go settle into the gorge. If you can't provide enough entertainment with your "music" and your elaborate light show then bits of colored paper and plastic certainly aren't going to make up for it.

It made me so sad to see that and hear all those people cheering.

So what is one to do when they realize all their hopes and dreams are fueled by nothing except greed and envy?

What is one to do when they realize they are living in a world of nothing but others selfish hopes and dreams?

Everyday I am confronted with this battle.

What am I supposed to do? Ignore it like the rest of the world? It is this indifference that has placed us at the edge as it is.

Shit is falling apart everywhere, and we are all smiling. Well most of us. Not those in places like Myanmar, Darfur, Lebanon, etc.

Everyone just continues to worry about gas, their car, the latest "photo scandal", cell phones, ipods, computers, clothes, hair, making your dick bigger and it goes on and on.

So what do I do?

Smoke weed.

I am looked down upon for smoking a natural plant that helps ease this pain. Instead I am expected to use that same money, which mind you wouldn't need to be used if this plant were legal, to buy material possessions that somehow increase my quality of life. Or expected to use it to go to school so I can learn how to do things the correct way to fit into this "society".

Fuck. Sometimes I'm not even sure which way my brain wants to go.

Yes there are plenty of things that I could support with the money I smoke. But I sometimes enjoy not feeling like I should bury a knife into my neck. You'd think I'd be use to something that's been happening since I was 6, but sometimes we can all use some natural enhancement to calm the beasts.

So I sit here and rot.

And to everyone it seems like a personal issue. To me, you all look like monsters.

I have been working on growing plants and grass in my "backyard" for the last 2 weeks. I recycle and have been using reusable shopping bags since last year.

I could do more by picking up litter that is not mine.

And everyone should be ashamed for only giving a shit for one week/day of the year.
